What is .XAP file ?
A .XAP file is a .zip compressed file that contains the client .DLL files.
We can rename the .xap to .zip file to view its content. This is possible because the .xap file is a zip compressed file.
It is similar to .apk on Android,which are to install android application.
It help us to install Windows Phone Apps directly from your SD Card.
Steps to install .XAP file on Windows Phone
1-After downloading the XAP file /APPX File place it in the root folder of your SD card.
2-On Start
, tap Store 
, and then tap SD card
3-If you've just inserted the SD card or added the .XAP files, you might need to wait a few minutes before you can access your SD card from the Store.
4-Select the apps you want, and then tap Install.

- If it isn't the latest version, it'll be listed under Incompatible apps.
- XAP Files of all paid Apps are trial versions
- APPX files is only compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 and later
